The Cuban master percussionist and composer Daphnis Prieto will present a master class, lecture, and demonstration at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29 in the Southwick Ballroom, room 301 Southwick Hall, on the Redstone campus.

Prieto, a fascinating speaker and musical thinker, will be talking not just about Latin music, but about jazz and other musical idioms.

The event is free and open to the public. Tickets are also available for his performance later that evening at FlynnSpace. Preito is appearing with a stellar group that includes Ralph Alessi, trumpet; Peter Apfelbaum, tenor sax; Felipe Lamoglia, alto and soprano sax; Yunior Terry, bass; and Manuel Valera, piano.
