Class of '90

Glad to see everyone at Reunion in June. I’ll have more to report on our big celebration in the next issue. Wendy Hoffman loves life in Boston. She is looking forward to Jonathan Cain’s wedding in Toronto. Congratulations to Rob Cioffi and wife Megan ’91 on the Valentine’s Day birth of their little girl Mary Therese. Adam Johnston of Santa Clara, Calif., has taken a marketing position with LSI Logic in Silicon Valley since earning his MBA at Vanderbilt University. John Osborn recently joined the commercial and litigation department of Bernstein, Shur, Sawyer and Nelson in Portland, Maine. Sara Shaw had a great reunion weekend last year at the Seattle home of Liz Bell. Liz, Lynne Schleede, Aleta Powel, Mike Desilets, Tom Smyth, Jeff Eells, Sara Shea, Mitch Wiegner, Noel Lawrence and his wife Yoshiko all enjoyed the sunny Seattle weekend. Richard Reif wrote that his son, William London, just turned a year old. He wrote, “He is a great joy!” Erica Rutkin married Jeffrey Keswin in New York City on February 25, 2000. Robyn Yablans Levy, her husband, Norm, and three-year-old Erica welcomed Jared Ross into their family last September 24th. Joel Norton and his wife, Bonnie, welcomed a new son, Nicholas Arthur Norton, on May 5, 2000. Joel, Bonnie, and baby Nicholas make their home in Essex Junction, Vt. James Schaefer is a vice president at Lehman Brothers, working in the global power group and focusing on mergers and acquisitions. He is still skiing and mountain biking whenever he can. Vanasse Hangen Brustlin, Inc., announced that Sally Gunn was named Young Engineer of the Year by the joint committee of the New Hampshire Engineering Societies. Sally is a project manager with the company, an engineering, planning, and applied sciences firm that provides integrated transportation, land development, and environmental services. Congratulations, Sally!

Class of '91

Karen Feeley Kitonis and husband John are completely in love with their new daughter, Julia Mae Kitonis. Julia turned a year old on March 1, 2000. Karen is a stay-at-home mom, doing some professional photography on the side. John remains at IDX as a software engineer. Brian and Brenda Cole Pearlman announced the birth of their second daughter, Sara Nicole, on December 28, 1999. Her big sister, Emily, is thrilled to have a new baby sister. Brenda will return to her work for a pediatric home health nursing agency, and Brian continues to work as an engineer at a medical device manufacturer in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Class of '92

Anne Phyfe Snedeker wrote that she has been living in Seattle for six years. She owns two yoga studios, called 8 Limbs Yoga Centers, where she teaches Hatha and prenatal yoga. Andrea Korry is currently a student. Anne is getting married this summer to Bez Palmer, and alumni who plan to attend the wedding include Robin Beers ’91 and Sue Reid ’91. Ford Rozycki is currently working for a small company that dismantles colonial houses and barns that are slated for demolition. In this small (yet significant) way, he is helping to preserve Vermont history. Todd Bradshaw lives in North Carolina with his wife, Anita, and son Bailey, who is 16 months old. He owns a health insurance company. Todd enjoys spending time on the golf course, and he was looking forward to the second annual Tupper II reunion golf trip to Myrtle Beach last April. Attendees include Shaun Manchand, Victor Melendez, Mark Saunders, Rick Glass, and Derek Vannostran, among others. Robin Wolk is currently pursuing her MBA at Simmons graduate school of management in Boston. James Murphy recently joined the law firm of Paul, Frank & Collins, based in Burlington. He will be concentrating his practice on corporate and commercial law. David Kotz was appointed senior vice president for Private Equity at Spencer Trask & Company in New York City. Robert McKinney married Jeanne Gillespie on September 24, 1999. They will make their home in Manchester, Conn.

Class of '93

Audrey Simmonds and Sean Guerrina ’94 finally got hitched in September 1998. Audrey wrote recently, “We just moved into our first home in Cicero, N.Y. Although busy, Sean is enjoying being a deputy sheriff for the county, and I am an educational seminar manager for the National Institute.” They hoped to see lots of UVM friends at the Lambda annual gathering. Thomas Zoller passed the professional engineer’s exam and is now a licensed professional engineer in the state of Vermont. Ashley Joy is living in San Francisco and working towards obtaining her license in social work. Currently, she is an employee assistant counselor and psychiatric social worker at Mills Peninsula Hospital. Tammy Veldman Edmonds lives in Arlington, Wash. She and her husband, Joel, have a son, AJ, who is three, and a daughter, Dallas, who is nearly a year old. Tammy works with Andrew King and speaks often with Kerri Belsito, who is an equine veterinarian in Oregon. She also keeps in touch via email with Katy Deitz Yeatts and Tammy Jewel (’92) Carpenter. David Prothero of Somerville, Mass., has been working at Federal Street Advisors as the director of financial management since June 1998. Tina Sirgo Kalfus and her husband, Howard, welcomed their first child, Joshua Benjamin Kalfus, into the world on January 14, 2000. Tina works part-time as a nuclear medical technologist at Vermont Radiologists in South Burlington. She continues to play with the Vermont Wind Ensemble at UVM. Anik Gibeau became a lighting market specialist at the Lighting Research Center at Rensselaer in Troy, N.Y.

Class of '94

I hope everyone has a great summer planned. Also, our class is in need of a pagemaster to maintain and update our homepage if anyone would like to volunteer. Thanks to Scott Reed for his work on it thus far. Abby Atkinson O’Brien and Tim O’Brien were married in September 1998, and they purchased a house in Mystic, Conn., last year. Tim continues to be president of his company, Detotec North America, and Abby is completing her master’s degree in marine biology from Boston University’s Woods Hole program this summer. Her research has been on whales and dolphins at the Mystic Aquarium. Abby wrote, “No kids, but we have a very cute kitten and are expecting a puppy this summer.” She also sent me information about other UVM grads: Liz Bacon lives in Boston and is working in public relations. She is engaged to be married in 2001 and will be studying in England this summer as part of her graduate work. Last year’s Memorial Day weekend, Michelle Hiller Range and Rob Range were married at a beautiful wedding ceremony in Vermont. They now live in Hoboken, N.J., where Michelle is a nurse and Rob continues to run his soccer store. Tim Williamson lives in Boston and continues to work for IBM. “He’s still a huge fan of Guinness beer,” wrote Abby. Perry Fatuova was married to Rachel, his high school prom date, last summer at a fun wedding on Martha’s Vineyard. He and Rachel live in New Jersey. Samantha Hawks Stetson married Dave Stetson in October 1998, and they recently moved to New York City from Connecticut. Sam works for Iwon.com. During the summer of 1996, Jen Kelly Schoenberg married John Schoenberg in Burlington. Jen and Jon live in Colorado. Cathy Holahan is pursuing a dual degree in law and social work at the University of Connecticut. She earned her master’s degree in social work this year and will have her law degree in May 2001. She is living in Hartford but will be working in Manhattan this summer at New Lawyers for the Public Interest. During the year, she has been making frequent trips to New York City to see Narric Rome, Paul Zedlovich, Cyndi Bohlin, and any visitors from the West Coast, such as Dave Donohue and Jeff “JJ” McNulty. Speaking of Narric Rome and the West Coast, he went skiing in Whistler, Canada, last March with other UVM grads. The trip was organized by Paul Zedlovich and included Dave Donohue, Mark Abromowitz, JJ McNulty, Cyndi Bohlin, Zanne Gillert, Amy Leyh, Katie Lackey ’95, and CJ Viccarro ’96. “We skied both Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains, usually with powder above our knees and some really challenging terrain,” wrote Narric. They also ran into Adam Turteltaub with other UVM grads. Tom Halpin is teaching seventh grade English at the Wayland Middle School in Wayland, Mass. He is getting married this summer to Katherine Hagan of Milton, Mass. Tom visited Paul Zedlovich in New York City last March. Paul and his investment banking colleagues have created a 10K fun run to benefit Habitat for Humanity to be held in New York City this June. Wow, Paul, you are quite organized, and I’m sure you know your way around the internet. How would you like to be the pagemaster for the class of ’94? Jonathan Webster has been living in Singapore for five years. He owns a small publishing company that produces two recreational marine magazines, entitled Boat Asia International and Reel Times. Jonathan is currently launching an online portal for the Asia Pacific marine industry. He and fellow alum Stephanie Keller spent New year’s Eve diving in Maolbaol, Cebu in the Philippines. Scott Stein married Wendy Wilder (’95) Stein in July 1997, and they live in St. Johnsbury, Vt. They became an aunt and uncle for the first time when Cheryl Wilder (’92) Devault and husband Todd ’92 had their first child in January. Tracy Thomas is an associate in the law firm of Kirkpatrick & Lockhart in Boston, where her practice focuses on litigation and trusts and estates. She graduated from New England School of Law in 1997. Eric Hynes is spending the summer as a tour guide on St. Paul Island in the Pribilofs, one of the most remote archipelagos in the world. They are approximately 350 miles off the coast of Alaska and 250 miles north of the Aleutian chain in the Bering Sea.

Class of '95

Michael Hickey wrote from Brookline, Mass., that he recently got engaged to Lisa Jackson. The big event happened on a great trip over the holidays after which they returned to Burlington, “where it all began.” Honor Spire married Douglas Engle on June 12, 1999, on Gibson Island, Md. They now make their home in Boulder, Colo. Erin Fox and Jennifer Mullenholz Smith attended the wedding. Jennifer and her husband, Christopher Smith were also recently married. Amy Thompson is engaged to marry Chris Olsen of Salt Lake City, Utah. They set the date for September 23, 2000, in Utah. Congratulations to Dean and Carrie McCuin Selby on the birth of their first child. Nathan Connor Selby was born March 13, 2000. Dean, Carrie, Nathan, and their dog, Cody, live in Fairfax, Vt. Jennifer Hughes will be moving from San Francisco to New York City for her new job as an associate in one of the documentary departments at HBO. She currently is producing a documentary of her own. Greg Rua and Erin Holden are living in Raleigh, N.C.

Class of '96

Hi, everyone! It’s hard to believe, but it’s almost time for our five-year UVM reunion. Time sure does fly by when we’re away from the hill. Look for news over the coming months about the reunion events. Now is also as good a time as any to make sure your current address and telephone number are listed with the alumni office. As for class news, Jenny Cox Olson is living in Durham, N.C., and working as a high school special education teacher at Chapel Hill High School. In March, she got together with some fellow UVMers for a mini L/L reunion. Included in the festivities were Chris Demerest (’94) Trowbridge, who lives in Virginia and works in reenactment and research at Colonial Williamsburg; Glenn Wong ’93, a high school math teacher in New York; and Marlo Goldstein (’94) Castillo, a third grade teacher in Maryland. Andrew Hassett is in Washington, D.C., working as a consultant at MicroStrategy, where he has been for three years. Andy was recently engaged, and he and his fiancé, Sunny, are planning a wedding in Florida in March 2001. Kevin Hoskins recently moved to Boston, where he is continuing his work as a publisher of a music magazine called Rockist. I also heard from Kristin Nicolino, who is living in Boston with Tara Strafaci ’98 and Rich Perry ’99 and working at a Wellesley elementary school as a behavior specialist with autistic and PDD preschoolers. She just began a master’s program in education, with a concentration in special education. Joshua Parmenter wrote, “I moved back to the great state of Missouri, where I am currently employed as a hall coordinator at the University of Missouri-Columbia. I like it quite a bit.”

Class of '97

Brian Lee graduated from St. Michael’s College in May 1999 with a master’s in education. He is working as the assistant director of residential life at Champlain College.

Class of '98

Since graduation, David Tepper has been working in the Boston area for Information Builders, Inc. He lives with Patrick Riordan ’96 in Watertown, Mass. David frequently gets together with other UVMers from Boston and around the country, including David Rous, Laura Petrie, Angie Owen, Jason FitzGerald, Rich Pashby, Brendan Burke ’99, Roger Peruman ’00, Brad Hess, Scott Rimm-Hewitt, Scott Mahland, Gary McAuslin, Eric Weber ’96, Sean Casey ’96, Steve Drzewicsewski ’95, Natalie Mead, Tim Daly, Dan Hill ’95, Jason Kneeland ’95, Jake Mutrie ’95, and Dana Rous ’95. Erin Breese wrote excitedly that she and Mark Mayott ’95 have started a coffee distribution business, called Coffee Reserves Boston. Erin currently serves on the UVM Boston alumni committee and as an alumni admissions rep in the Boston area. Since February, Stephane Perrilat-Amede has been attending the University of Kent in Canterbury, England, at their Brussels School of International Relations. Stephane is pursuing an MA in international relations.

Class of '99

Well, a year has come and gone. It’s hard to believe, but absolutely true. It’s time to stop putting off those return phone calls or emails. Now’s the time to call that old friend before another year slips away. I would love to help out in any way possible. Look for “who’s seen or heard” in future columns. This will be a great way to reach out to our class. Kevin Chipman will be blessing us with his presence in Boston. He landed a job at Beth Israel Hospital. Woody Fagge is giving Seattle a try, and Jesse Kaufman is working for Merrill Lynch in New Jersey. Please keep the stories coming. I’d love to hear from you all.
